umm.....i'm hoping it is a political burning and not a personal one ..... i like red, but not the red of my burning flesh. plus, really - i thought we were friends .... ??!!

is this anything like the witch hunts of the inquisition ??

and um, is it all right if i wear my patriotic converse to your party ???

Heh... not meant as a personal slur.
Having grown up under the Nationalist regime in South Africa, I have a stong aversion to mindless patriotism and flag-waving. I believe that all forms of national pride should be approached with extreme caution.
I also happen to believe that it's not where you come from, but who you are that is important.
- burn baby burn -
The linked article by Howard Zinn is very interesting. (click on the YiiiHaaa!)

hi friend - i'm just 'yanking your chain' as we americans like to say ..... and i cannot agree more whole-heartedly about the mindlessness of the masses and being who you are .........

but in the spirit of the day ...... can I bring hotdogs and marshmallows to your roast ??? they are sort of standard fare for the 4th .....

pisces, friend - i hope one day we meet and share a cup of coffee (or tea): i would just love to sit and wonder at all those fantastic thoughts and words sifting through your mind !

will check out the link, later - have some burning of my own to do ....... natch

peace, brother

Pisces,
For a flame hotter than that flag — it ignited me.
