Magpies

In the Shadows where some bright ones walk,
In order for their talents to be more easily discerned
Lurk larger shapes for whom the shadows are an aid
to satisfying their appetites for shiny things.

I think so. Because in the lack of brightness the light becames the precious treasure that is search in the darkness

Would light be seen if there was no darkness to contrast it with; making illumination exponentially brighter by the depth of the darkness?

Metaphorical Whack-a-Mole. Showing off is its own punishment. Glowing seems preferable to shining here.

Which shiny things?

Mariana: a good explanation I think

walking man: I was thinking about the symbiotic relationship between predator and prey

Yodood: showing off its own punishment - I like that... the martyrdom of the prey

James: there could be any number of examples but the best is those who seek the celebrity spotlight

Someone's ready to pounce where
Shadows have come to life. Good lurk here.

The silvery, scaled skirt
may need to be discarded
as a precaution.

Aren't Magpies known for picking up "shiny" smouldering cigarette butts and dropping them off in the hayloft?
