Excellent post. I am sad tonight because of an enormous oil spill in the San Francisco Bay Area. As I write this our sea life is dying. If we were serious about the survival of our progeny and health of the planet we would:

1) Stop the perpetually self-defeating increase of world food production to stop the population increases that inevitably increase the number starving people and quantity of polluters. The always increasing population is always the justification for industrial excesses in production.

2) Individuals must become more aware of the effect of over population by the sheer quantity of polluting, heating prosthetics each requires. Education about the need to prevent unwanted pregnancy with contraception is of paramount importance.

3) Stop using harmful technology immediately, all the phase out plans are too soft. The internet has the capability of every type of communication except teleportation of physical entities. A giant portion of western civilization's exceptionally excessive contribution to world wide pollution is due to the auto and air conditioning proliferation by commuters to and from jobs they could do just as well at home.

I don't find much hope for independent financing of local versions of the US's thingathon to gain South America the improvements its indigenous populations envision.Yodoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09244765916380830711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23064466.post-42570693629493045782007-11-04T10:47:00.000+00:002007-11-04T10:47:00.000+00:00Strong post, Pisces. It will be interesting to watch and see if they can be met - Brazil will either be the deal maker or breaker in this, as he rightly points out.

It would be equally interesting to see if and how other regions, Africa, for example respond to the South American initiative. At present the continent is tied to the IMF and now the Chinese are starting to clamber aboard as well by taking advantage of multiple resources (I read somewhere that the Chinese Import-Export Bank are planing on funding the migration of something like half a million Chinese farmers to Africa to grow food for the Chinese market...).

There will always be those who are willing to get rich on the coat-tails, labour and need of the poor - including those who are more than willing to feed off their own.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04871239587214383387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23064466.post-7241311525640667152007-11-03T15:29:00.000+00:002007-11-03T15:29:00.000+00:00as for the article pi..what a brilliant light insp...as for the article pi..what a brilliant light inspite of the darkest dark cast by the world bank...

>It's boldly based on member states complementarity, not competition; solidarity, not domination; cooperation, not exploitation; and respect for each participating nation's sovereign right to be free from the grip of other countries and corporate giants.

hope..there is hope..

great post..

k:)))

{i must learn to proofread}
;)karoline in the morninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06259618437012951853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23064466.post-2887373996296352672007-11-03T15:28:00.000+00:002007-11-03T15:28:00.000+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.karoline in the morninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06259618437012951853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23064466.post-55377201203123405792007-11-03T15:23:00.000+00:002007-11-03T15:23:00.000+00:00what a fab artist pi...checked out his stuff and h...what a fab artist pi...checked out his stuff and he's certainly bookmarked....luved his paintings..

kkaroline in the morninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06259618437012951853noreply@blogger.com
