An old time fav of mine and the city I live in has always loved him too..his song 'Woman,' well it just rang all the right chords. Gven his enormous talent and refusal to comprimise his music..it's not hard to believe his claim that he co-wrte "Season of the Witch," as well as a major portion of the songs that finally surfaced on Donavan's album 'Sunshine Superman.'
A woman Of perplexity A woman For eternity A woman Of the land A woman For a man I'm down On my knees And I'm saying Please believe me It's hard To fall out Of love Completely It's harder To find a way To come back Discreetly To speak Of things anew To weep In quiet blue Brocade Upon your bed Memories should fade At least of you A sceptre Of ice and fire A spectre Of my desire A girl-child Of such loveliness
Mary: I can understand why you would call that song 'woman', since it has what is possibly the longest song title in music history: She was waiting for her mother at the station in Torino and you know I love you baby but it's getting too heavy to laugh rdg: If I'm not mistaken, Phillips is a Texan who now (bizarrely) lives in South Africa.

A woman
Of perplexity
A woman
For eternity
A woman
Of the land
A woman
For a man
I'm down
On my knees
And I'm saying
Please believe me
It's hard
To fall out
Of love
Completely
It's harder
To find a way
To come back
Discreetly
To speak
Of things anew
To weep
In quiet blue
Brocade
Upon your bed
Memories should fade
At least of you
A sceptre
Of ice and fire
A spectre
Of my desire
A girl-child
Of such loveliness

That's awesome. I've looked over there a few times myself. Don't have a lot of mind left, and what is, I usually manage to laugh at. :-)
