Definitive Gaze

Shiva's Crown ~ Dan Dos Santos

She shuns the views of Sigmund Freud
She rests her gaze upon the void
And gazing back the void agrees
That all is measured in degrees
Around the point when she was turned
And marked her height upon the door
Realised she was no more
Than the lessons earned
In shades of grief
And light relief
And in the smiles of children passing

Such a nugget is earned by the same turning — Brilliant. Any more would be too much.

Another great piece indeed. But educate me if you will. Was it not the auspicious one herself who wore a crown of skulls?

Was it the placing of skulls that stood as the Hindu symbol for reincarnation?

Am I thinking of another Shiva?

Yodood: glad you enjoyed

Jimmy: It appears that you are the one doing the educating - I am no expert on Hindu mythology - the reference was not intentional but if it reads that way, all the better ¦D

I'm spending far too much time in Indian restaurants these days.

Do a piece on something Mexican next week, I could go a few Burritos and a gallon or two of Sol.

Some pearls here indeed, PI.

"The void agrees . . . when she was turned."

I like the twist here and wonder how the last line in this poem might look if the void were to return in the lessons learned.

BTW, sign me up for the Mexican turn to tortillas, Dox XX, and lime(y).

Pisces... I like how the image and the lovely verse feel quite ...hinged somehow...for me at least...for now at least...
I am quite taken with the felt sense of the poem, not only for its rhythm but also for its intriguing dimensionality/directionality
and I quite like your whole ( blog) concept...
lots to look forward to here...

Thank you Harlequin, glad you are enjoying.

Well spotted Jams! I'm a bit reticent to hear anything new lest it ruins what went before.
