Hobbes & Calvin : our great philosophers

...so I was at a conference on the body in southern California... many others there were philosophers...wild old time, at Esalen, quite the place...
anyway, I used a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon for a piece of the workshop/session I was facilitating and like a good teacher, gave the group a foreshadow of what was to come... Calvin and Hobbes... to a man, the philosophers were wondering when I was actually going to make the connections to John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes...not one had ever heard or seen of the little guy and his tiger... I have learned many such lessons on literality from my colleagues in philosophy.
thanks for the memory trigger

Harlequin: I love stories like that; especially when the highly educated fail to notice the really good stuff that goes on around them in real life - nice one :D
