She dances in the red dust devilling
Fans the embers’ moonward spiral
And on her charmed ankles glimmer
The swords of dead tomorrows
The flags of anarchists
And the hopes of lonely children
She dances at the blue ice gathering
Kicks the deck-chair habit
And at her chained waist gleam
The knives of sleeping winter
The banners of idealists
And the fears of gun
She dances on the velvet light flickering
Dusts the moon with ember spirals
And in her eyes green glisten
The pinwheel stars' lost light
The rags of heathen prophets
And the dreams of aging poets

Very deep indeed, what was the inspiration behind it?
This made me think of the Northern Lights. Is 'she' Inspiration? Something deeper than that. Your title has got me puzzled.
'Kicks the deck-chair habit'- I like this line. And I like the last two lines. All of it actually. Very lyrical.
He dances on the parchment hide scrawling
Dusts the words with powdered bones
In his quill blue ink bristles
Barbs of official offenses
Ideals of the banned
And inspiration for dwellers in the interstices between slimy stepping stones
Are you calling me an interstitial dweller Yodood? (*tongue-in cheek*)
Just for an instant, Time stands still. For only an untrod stone can gather moss. Oh bother!
Jimmy: Inspired by the mental image of ankles evoked by the song "You go on ahead" by Sunset Rubdown.
Specifically the following lines:
"you go on ahead for awhile
I would like to just follow you awhile
and I'd like to watch the white flash of your heels as they take turns breaking the desert heat to beckon me in languages I've never learned"
Cinnamon: The stepping stones refer to the stream of thoughts that created these three stanzas/levels - a kind of vague reference to invoke deeper spells.
Yodood: If the he is me then I am deeply flattered :)
Either way you have definitely added a perfect fourth level to my three.
Subby: careful, some of them are slippery.
Shudder.
eACH ONE OT THEN DANCES AT ITS ONE WAY, EACH ONE IS SPECIAL, EACH ONE IS MAGICAL, THERE IS NO ONE SIMILAR TO THEM
