The moon is the fulcrum
About which I revolve
One constant landmark
In the night bus window view
My words without receipt
Emit no music
They are:
- No carrier for a moral
- No words to the wise
But intent on the cockle
Of your waiting ear
A virus to spread
The sun is the pivot
About which we all swing
The seasons rearrange
The yesterdays we idly consign
To pixels on an electronic page
Dependant on so small a thought:
It’s working now unnoticed
Why should it stop working?
I am the centre of what I know
A seemingly stable atom
In an unstable concept
I am dust on the face of time
Shouting as loud as I can
About which I revolve
One constant landmark
In the night bus window view
My words without receipt
Emit no music
They are:
- No carrier for a moral
- No words to the wise
But intent on the cockle
Of your waiting ear
A virus to spread
The sun is the pivot
About which we all swing
The seasons rearrange
The yesterdays we idly consign
To pixels on an electronic page
Dependant on so small a thought:
It’s working now unnoticed
Why should it stop working?
I am the centre of what I know
A seemingly stable atom
In an unstable concept
I am dust on the face of time
Shouting as loud as I can
The title for this piece of mindfuck is spoken by the Cherokee lift/elevator attendant to Albert Einstein (who has just had the general theory of relativity explained to him by Marilyn Monroe) in Nicolas Roeg's "Insignificance"
Einstein responds by professing his understanding of the Cherokee belief that wherever you are, there too is the centre of the universe

A very absorbing and thought provoking piece you have written here. I was drawn to it like a bee to a flower. Thanks for sharing this...
hmm. there's a lot going on in that explaination...sounds like a good read
this was a wonderful meditation on being and presence.... lovely.
not so much a mindfuck, actually.... seemed more like a mind spiral, to me anyway, a wild little inner roller coaster.
This one spans about 6 months in fragmented lines: watching the moon stand still from the window of a bus; through dismay at the futility of continued blog-posting; to re-watching "Insignificance" with my son Heckle. Amazingly, it pulls together into a coherent whole (it does to me anyway :] )
The concept is indeed highly stimulating.
I agree in that it's more of a mind spiral! Befuddling at times, yet something that seems obvious.
a point of indian humor is that all white people have a cherokee ancester (so they say, a "princess", a "medicine man"... "i'm 1/8 cherokee". so many wannabes, all of them wannabes... (watched "rosemary's baby" recently: "all of them witches", the book hutch gives rosemary...) quit smoking yesterday, feeling kinda whoozy... :>>))
D2: I usually end up where i started when I think about things - so perhas a mind circle?
Laura: That's what I love about Indian humour: it's serious.
Quit smoking - it's difficult but totally worth it - keep going.
thanks, pisces. day 4. i'm doing it. in a week or so, i'll also be going off all my pain meds. ready to dump the monkees and renew the wings. :>>)) xoxooxoxox
I love conceptual discussions of order and chaos. I always find it funny that man typically labels himself as the order... it's like, really?
Chaos IS the order.
And forgive me for my pop culture vernacular, but your post script reminds me of the famous line from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.
There are twelve Cherokee moons each moon represents the spiritual importance of our physical life.
No matter where we stand on the belly of our mother (earth) we are reminded to keep center of the spiritual importance of our physical life.
I was conceived on the cusp of two moons and born on the cusp of two moons.
Four moons rule the heart of my soul.
I will post on the four moons I serve soon.
I am the centre of what I know
A seemingly stable atom
In an unstable concept
I am dust on the face of time
Shouting as loud as I can
This last verse-o-yorn is more profound in my world, than I can ever express.
Thanks for thinking them.
Lobe: As one tethered to a melacholy moon, I look forward to your moon post.
