My everlasting summer is fading fast,
but unlike the seventies there is nought for me to grasp...
The first time I heard this song I was but nine, skinning a coral snake at the public water fountain at John Rhodes Park.
Steely Dan blaring from a baby blue mustang
The driver, a teenage boy, whom, at that time to me was "The Man"....
'Twas the same day I found out that I was Ohio bound, fresh snakeskin in hand...
No snakes in Ohio, at least not that kind...

Remembering the song, the boy, the sunlight, the car, the color of the snakeskin, and mostly the smell of snake meat.

This was just a story about the day in my life that I began Reeling In The Years, at age nine.

dw: well who said you wouldn't know a diamond if you held it in your hand?
It's amazing how music can transport you through time - I've been listening to this album for over thirty years and it hasn't lost any of its bite.
