Funhouse

this is not the freedom they were fighting for:
it is a tyranny of mediocrity
they are safe
umbrella-ed by a tyranny of mediocrity
this is a victory for the gamblers
a safety net for the insurers
(the house always wins)
this is the padded cell
for the drugged prisoner
who carries in his mind
the vision of a key
the idea of an ideal
a cardboard cut-out of a Movie Star

That's what I want. The freedom to be mediocre. The freedom to not have to be the best or even good.

I'm fading ...
freedoms an echo
down the hall
where they whisper things
I can't here.

Mediocre works for me. It keeps folks from expecting too much from me. Makes my solitude much easier to keep undisturbed.
Hope you have a great weekend.
And great post!
