'38 Rue Utopia ~ Ep.20

I don't dream, how could I ever dream
When my nightmares are entrances wholly enclosed
~ My Latest Novel ‘A Dear Green place’ 2009

The Visit ~ Felix Vallotton

“There was this man and this woman, and they were married to one another in a very important family.
The man was very clever; but also, quite stupid, he was, after all, a man”
Eva glances up to see who’s listening.
“His name was Guy. Guy believed he could save the world by inventing a machine that would fix everything, he was, after all, a man.
“But the woman, whose name was Gale, she thought it was a stupid idea but she said nothing in case he became angry with her. Gale was afraid of angry men. Gale was always trying not to make Guy angry”
The half-closed eyes of her audience had already glazed over for the most part; lost in the listening.
“Gale’s family where very rich and they owned lots of things - they were like kings and queens that were famous all over the world.
“Guy was clever enough not to get angry too often ‘cause he needed his wife’s family’s money and power to create the machine-that-would-save-the-world”
Eva pauses to the sounds of some commotion in the commons a floor below.
“Guy had thought about this machine for a long-long time and he decided that it would be impossible to change the climate back, so the machine-that-would-save-the-world would have to change people so that they would survive in the new climate.
“The only way to do this, he decided, was to alter their DNA - you guys know what DNA is doncha? - alter their DNA so that they would grow some sort of armour against…”
“Eva, you better come down,” softly from the darkness of the doorway, “Alec’s boy’s’ve taken off with the tractor. Daniel’s going ape-shit”
