Breathing fast through the blood fast-pumping around his brain, Nikos slides down the wall.
The last time he felt this alive was in Turkey ’29; he was younger and it was easier then; now he’s gone and got himself paralysed by a perfectly executed dim mak.
In silhouette she draws the knife from behind her back; carbon, black, solid but light, blade well-honed and with a nastily curved and serrated upper edge.
“This is gonna hurt” she says
“You talk too much” Nikos closes his eyes and takes his last breath slow and full.
