Fascism:
It’s difficult to paint a picture without the direct assistance of light.
Grey is hard to work with unless you employ hard contrast.
Clarity is a question of pixels per square millimetre, the more pixels you’ve got, the clearer the picture.
Oh!
But even with a high-quality picture, we still end up living in a black and white world.
Never mind those shades of grey, colour is something we never talk about... not really.
Hard contrast is the primary tool of the propagandist.
The propagandist has now limited the concept of Colour to red, since black and white are not colours but rather the absence and the presence of light.
Raise your fists to the black, white and red that flies from your flagpoles; spews from your erections; fires from your guns.

I was intending to start publishing the continuation of '38 Rue Utopia much earlier this year but the story just never got going.
In the meantime Backroads, Less Travelled has been slowly making itself present in my head. These are (and will continue to become) a series of linked stories set (so far) in South East London in a time when all sorts of shit has already rained down the survivors are carving out their existence in the aftermath.
Much of the story has been gleaned from the locations of my cycle rides through the area and while this is not a sequel to '38 Rue Utopia, there are references to it and, in fact, some of the characters have been transposed almost verbatim from my failed attempts to write that story.

Regular readers at The Far Queue (All 3 of you at last count) will be familiar with my seat-of-the-pants writing ethos and will be unsurprised to hear that I will publish the 7 stories that I have completed so far over the next 7 weeks and anything further will be published as and when I manage to drag them from my head and put them down in pixel ink.
