'38 Rue Utopia ~ Ep.62

Someone stole my identity
And I feel sorry for them
~ T Bone Burnett ‘Hollywood, Mecca of the Movies’ 2006

“How’d’you plan on getting us all out of here anyway?” says Alec into the silence that has stretched the tension between them.
“Straight out through the trade gate,” says Daniel, “It’ll cost us, but I can’t see any other way... just hope we don’t have to deal with some jobsworth on duty.” He raps his knuckles gently on the box containing their gear and the shotguns, “But if there’s any trouble, well…”
Alec is torn between multiple horses: he tries not to imagine what Megan’s reaction would have been to all this, tries hard to believe that this would probably still be the outcome had she survived the collapse.
His one relief is that Marty’s not with them, never even left the clave according to the boys.
Relief that is spiked by the yet-to-be-addressed communal matter of Joe’s death.
Alec knows Daniel well enough to know that he will be considering the boys lucky; lucky that he and Alec got to them before they were fleeced out of the tractor.
Lucky that his vengeance does not extend to capital punishment.
Lucky idiots.
Alec knows Daniel well enough to know that he will consider the matter closed once his precious fucken tractor is reinstalled in the clave.
Alec’s not sure if the matter will be closed that easily for himself.
